Mary Ann is ready!:-)

Hello dear friends and readers~*grin*

Firstly , I would like to deeply thank you all of you that sent me notes and left me comments. I truly appreciate you taking your precious time out and doing that for me!!!*smiles*

Some of the comments mentioned the size of the figurines. I am sure of the size , what I am dwelling is with how *wide* , if I can say like that, the doll should or not be.

I was not expecting the answers that I received . I feel that it made a lot difference for me. I feel more *free* to create but I think that I will keep it more *compact* , because Mary Ann is just like that and I think she has been a good challenged for me.

Speaking of her,grin.... please meet my sweet heart- Mary Ann!*grin*

She is very petite and sweet to hold. I love her expression. Her mouth is *very* detailed. When looking closely one will see that above her teeth she has a gum line .

I will list her on Ebay today and my listing will be for 5 days. You can bid or visit my listing by clicking the auction button on my side bar.
One more thing. Some of you know that I am a painter artist. I am now listing some of my work in which is illustration for children's book on a little etsy store that I open just for that. *grin*
Have a blessed day!!!:-)

What is the *right* size when it come to 1:12 figurines??

I have been debating with my title question....
When I first started making 1:12 scale figurines I learned about the size as 1' = 1". Well, I thought if I did the math all would be just right. I am now wondering about it....
The thing is - I noticed that the better items, or vintage items in this scale are smaller than the newer commercial items. I bought a plastic chair , a kit, from a well know brand ( I can't think of the name right now ) . The chair is well made and I believe that because this company is been around for a long time , they still make their items much smaller than some new companies. I thought it first that this was due to the style perhaps but more I look into and as I buy some more expensive furniture I compare and see a difference...am I correct?
I then start to think about my own work... would they be accurate if they are just in the inches that they should be or for that they need to be smaller ( proportionally, if you know what I mean)
This is a debate for me now....
This little girl that I am working on is the same size of many of my other little girls but she is smaller overall. I found out that she was MUCH more difficult to make it too. Her glass eyes were a *nightmare* to get it right in place and her fingers were sculpted with a very fine needle.
She has a gum line and even a little tongue.*grin*
I am also working hard in give my figurine expressions as I am hoping to be able to sculpt portraits that will reflect not just a character but real facial expressions and at this size I do realize that I need to practice a LOT.*grin*
The first picture is what she looks like now... the ones in the bottom is showing her with a different hair style... I didn't like it ... I had to change.
I will dress her next.
I would truly appreciate to hear opinions and comments from you. As a self taught artist sometimes I hit a wall and wish I had help.
((( Thank you so much))))*grin*

Dress up girl, older child, toddler boy and Collie dog

***You may click it to enlarge and please visit my auctions to read and seee more about each one of them! :-)
What a busy week I had, but I was so excited when I finally got to the pictures. I worked longer days ( and evenings) only because my DH was traveling and time seemed right!*grin*

A dress up girl.... I always wanted to make one.... and as a matter of a fact , I have started a dress up tea party scene. I made a little older girl... that was nice too because I found out that 1/2" of difference on the size ( 4" tall) allowed me to be more detailed with .... hands and toes.
Then I made a little boy..... really young ...around 3. So sweet. His face is almost mad! Maybe is because the dog is peeking on his reading!*grin*

I hope you have a lovely week as well and will have a terrific weekend. I am looking forward to walk around the pastures this evening...... see you soon! Smiles~
